Buzz Bishop attended the 2013 Calgary Hitmen Teddy Bear Toss on December 1, an annual event at the Calgary team's home rink. 25,921 bears were thrown onto the ice when Pavel Padakin scored a goal. All of the stuffed toys will be donated to various charities, including the YMCA and the Red Cross. Over the 19 years of this event, more than 250,000 Teddy bears have been collected for charity. A winter storm caused travel chaos across Scotland on December 5 after high winds forced the closure of the rail network and many roads. Winds in excess of 160kph were reported in some areas of Scotland with fallen trees and power lines adding to the disruption.
